Stem Cell Harvest Delayed
This last round of chemo has proven to be an interesting one. Jilli had WAY more nausea than previously. But somehow her WBC never crashed! We were supposed to have had surgery this morning, and we were supposed to be harvesting her stem cells. But yesterday’s bloodwork results threw a wrench in things. After only 5 days post chemo, her WBC and ANC was super high. She should be borderline neutropenic right now. Her levels should just now be on the rise. This is the window of opportunity that is needed for this stem cell harvest. But we still are not sure what happened to cause this. Nonetheless the test results from Arizona came back showing minimal stem cells. Not enough to harvest, so the procedure was cancelled. Her next round of chemo is scheduled for mid month. So until then, we resume life as “normal” as we can.
This month is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. And I am super excited about the new wristbands!!!! I also need to say thank you to the Pink Hearts and everybody who was involved and donated their time to the Cuts For A Cause this past weekend. I can not believe the amount of people that came out to support our Jillian. We appreciate our new recruits. SALUTE!
