Where was I a year ago today?
Hello soldiers,
This past Tuesday marked the anniversary date of Jillian’s hospitalization. Today marks the day that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, and she began chemotherapy that same night. I was at the hospital when Dr. B came in to give Jesse and Amber the diagnosis and to begin to explain treatment. I will never forget sitting in that room shaking uncontrollably. I watched Amber and Jesse hold hands while they tried to digest what the doctor was telling them. As horrible as it was, I am grateful that they let me be there. It felt good that they were having Jillian immediately start fighting the damn thing with chemo…. My stomach hurts just thinking about that emotional day.
Here we are a year later, still fighting. Jillian is hospitalized and having a rough time with immunotherapy. She is spiking fevers and being given pain medicine along with the antibodies and IL2. But you know what? Jillian is here. She is here and is healthier than she was a year ago today. We are blessed.
A few weeks back, I shot this video of Jillian watching one of her support videos from her early days of fighting. Watching her dance and sing almost a year later was amazing to me. I hope you all feel the same when you watch it. Thanks for having Jillian, Sienna, Amber, and Jesse’s backs throughout this battle – it ain’t over yet. Much love to you Jillian’s Army!
