The battle begins.
Our world had been demolished by a nuclear bomb. We have been blindsided…now forced to fight a war we never asked for. We are all fighting for the life of this precious little girl. Survival rates are based on a four year average, so as of four years ago her chances were 50%-60%; a flip of a coin in my opinion. But, she is strong. She is determined. And she is loved by so many. We will do everything possible to win this battle. She will overcome this because failure is not an option here.
Thursday, July 11th…Round 1 of chemo begins. She receives it via IV in the middle of the night to reduce the side effects. Five nights in a row she receives a dose of chemotherapy to kill the cancer cells. The sad part of this is that her good cells must die too. Her poor little body must endure terrible side effects. She will receive 5 nights of chemo treatments followed by two weeks to recover. They must let her immune system rebound before they hit her again. She took round 1 like a champ. Her side effects have been minimal. She is still receiving blood transfusions. The best gift anyone can give right now is to donate blood if you are able. You never know who’s life you might be saving.
