Jillian’s Army Childhood Cancer Awareness Billboard!!!

Jillian's Army Childhood Cancer Awareness Billboard

Jillian’s Army is very excited to announce this Childhood Cancer Awareness billboard which has debuted in time for September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month! Former Soldier of the Month, Krystal Simpson, pursued getting a billboard donated for a month for the use of Jillian’s Army.  Krystal is a Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor.  The idea of having her on the billboard was developed in order to show that with more funding for Childhood Cancer Research, more kids will have a fighting chance to beat cancer and grow up. She was reluctant to participate, but we are so glad that we basically gave her no choice.

Jillian’s Army is honored that The Ronan Thompson Foundation agreed to be featured on Jillian’s side of the billboard. Ronan was only 3 years old when diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma… the same age as Jillian was at diagnosis.  Ronan fought this monster for nine months before passing away on May 9, 2011. His parents, family, and The Ronan Thompson Foundation have made it their mission to find a cure for this horrible disease.

Krystal is an Honored Hero of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  We are so glad that they agreed to participate with Krystal on her side on the billboard.  These blood cancers are common among children.  46 children a day are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, and 7 children die every day.  That is 46 and 7 too many.  Pediatric Cancer only receives 3.8% of all cancer research funding which is why it is imperative to donate to reputable organizations if we want to find a cure. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and Gold is the color of Pediatric Cancer Awareness.

Thanks to Willie McCord of Clear Channel Outdoor, Allison Hutchinson of RockTenn, Erica Kramer of Clear Channel Outdoor, and Ben Myhre of Clear Channel Outdoor we have an amazing opportunity to spread awareness.  The donation of one billboard for a month has turned into five billboards over a year!  We are so thankful for their generosity and give them a Jillian’s Army Salute!  The photography was donated by Omar Vasquez of Monix Photography, thanks Omar for working with our fiery little Jillian on this project.
