How Jillian’s Army was “founded”

Sorry to get so serious on a weekend post, but last night I was told a story which involved a friend of mine being told that a person they know met “The Founder of Jillian’s Army”. This founder did not match any descriptions of people that I could match up with those a part of Jillian’s family as best I can tell. Just to clarify, this is how Jillian’s Army got started. My explanation will not be the best because it happened when the shock of Jillian’s diagnosis was fresh… forgive me.

Jillian was diagnosed on July 11, 2013. One night Jesse, Amber, Uncle Rob and myself were discussing the devastating news. On the bright side, we began discussing how Jillian isn’t in this alone. She has always been a blessed little girl with a huge support network of family, friends, and friends who became family. One of us, sorry I’m not sure which, said that Jillian has an army behind her. We obtained the jilliansarmy.com domain name on July 14th, with my purpose being to have a blog to keep Jesse’s family in New York in the loop. As usual, I got a bit more ambitious with the website than originally intended. We have all been blessed that Jillian’s Army grew beyond friends and family to this amazing group of supporters who share her story everyday. I am so glad the website and social media can reach you all so quickly. Thank you.

Not an exciting story, I know. However, I felt it best that it be told because of the story I was told last night. I don’t want to scare anyone off from donating to a family like the Moore’s who have huge medical expenses. I also don’t want to scare people off from donating to charities, especially Childhood Cancer ones. Please do your homework before doing so.

I can assure you that anything purchased on this site puts money directly in the Moore’s pockets. The checkout process literally directs the money to them with no middle man. I would like to ask that people do not use the Jillian’s Army logo or name to sell anything without contacting us through the website first. 100% of Jillian’s Army proceeds go to pay Jillian’s medical expenses. It hurts my heart to hear someone we don’t know is out there claiming to be the founder of Jillian’s Army, and it makes me wonder what they could be selling under that name.

On a happier note, I hope that Jillian’s Army members are having a great weekend. Jillian is having fun and was able to attend the Carestream fundraiser today. Carestream provides a mobile grooming service for multiple shelters. Our friends at Suite One Salon hosted the fundraiser because they are awesome people with huge hearts, and our beloved Pink Hearts girls were there as well. Thanks Pink Hearts LV for all the work you do.
